Delta Shock Deck

Unlike the hardcore whitewater decks like the Absolute, this one is super easy to get on and off. It still fits perfectly, keeps your boat dry even in rough water, and the dive density neoprene resists minor bumps and scrapes while the stretchier waist part ensures comfort and freedom of movement. It's glued, blindstitched and hot-melt taped for absolutely bomber construction.
The Delta Shock Deck is a exceptional spraydeck which will hug tightly onto your boat. Ideal for entry level to intermediate whitewater,  sea touring, and for more extreme use on composite type cockpits. It has an adjustable knee off strap for extra reassurance should you be concerned about getting out, as well as the usual manual pull-strap at the front. Fantastic for beginners or experienced paddlers alike!

Also back in stock today we have the new design cockpit cover. Made from a super stretchy neoprene, this cover is a handy one size fits nearly everything, great for those of us who have multiple boats in our quiver. It keeps aliens out and wet kit in, and we think you'll agree it is eye-catching in the most awesome way

Finally a little reminder about the amazing Rivermonster XT pfd, which we honestly believe is the most complete, functional and all-round bonkers whitewater vest in the world right now. You can check it out at nookie.co.uk/rivermonster

As Darren-Clarkson-King (the only person to solo both rivers on Everest) so eloquently put it:

"it was my choice for the 8848 trip and I could have had any vest - it works so bloody well"

Thanks Daz!

Container day

So, in the last hour we've moved a couple of tons of rubber and a house sized pile of Rivermonsters :)
We all want to get excited and rummage around in all our new toys, but we're too busy :(
Maybe tomorrow we'll update with pretty pics.

Surf Skirt
Available in Small and Keyhole deck sizes, but if you need a larger deck check out the Cinch version which is the same deck really, just in WW boat sizes with a more extensive reinforcing matrix.

As we gear up for the European boating season, we thought we'd tell you about the Rivermonster XT and why it's the best choice for whitewater kayaking.

Most hi flotation pfd's are too thick at the front, and impede both pro-active swimming and your chances of scrambling onto a rock or into a raft. The Rivermonster XT has the perfect foam distribution to allow passive/defensive swimming, or head down front crawl. And has more and better distributed impact protection too.

The foam is hinged to allow it to mold to the shape of the wearer's body. The new tweaks of fit and construction are just awesome. It's a joy to wear.

Most whitewater pfd's have built in webbing harnesses to give high shoulder strength, but only the Rivermonster XT has continuous seat-belt webbing (yes, it's all one piece with no joins) that terminates front and back in loops for karabiners.*

The quick release chest belt is made from the same webbing and features a load spreader/brake plate that can be threaded by experienced persons for auto, manual or no release depending on your needs.

We don't approve of welded steel rings because their strength/condition cannot be reliably ascertained, so we suggest you use an appropriate screw-gate karabiner when attaching to the back of the chest belt.

The shoulders of the Rivermonster XT are double thick padded for clavicular safety  and boat carrying comfort.

The neoprene stretch front pocket system is amazing, you can fit tons of gear in your pockets but it doesn't protrude and cause an obstruction like other whitewater pfd pockets. There are separate compartments for quick access to knife and other accessories.

The unique Nookie krab park comes with an attachment system to lock the krab in place but to be honest most pros find a standard bent-gate is secure just stuffed in the pocket, so well designed is this feature.

Add to this the one-time only adjustment, the bright panels and hi-vis bits, and the Cordura shell and you have the ultimate whitewater pfd. It is also successfully used for sea kayaking and open boating. All the metal components are corrosion resistant. You can remove the chest belt and paddle freestyle. Maybe it's the only buoyancy aid you need.

for full tech spec go to nookie.co.uk/rivermonster

* Experienced persons can tether the buoyancy aid to a sit harness or crotch straps so that it cannot be pulled off. The immense strength of the buoyancy aid internal structure would be of no use without this system because the buoyancy aid could simply be pulled off as the wearer's body starts to deform significantly at forces in excess of 1.4KN (150kg vertical weight equivalence).

Spring is here... And that means we all start getting excited about going boating without freezing fingers, ice cream head, and the onset of latent hypothermia. But there's a problem with boating this time of year. It's not always as warm as the Spring sunshine makes us feel!

Luckily, we're here to help! Don't say we don't look after you!
So, pack your Ti-vests, if you have the sun on your back there's no better feeling than the freedom of boating without about a hundred layers on. But pack your drysuit, Base Layers and fleeces too, in case it just isn't quite as warm as you hoped. And we'd suggest throwing in lots of snuggly stuff to wrap up in as soon as you're off the water. Like this Thermalcore 100 Hero fleece. That's a good choice...

The Absolute Decks are back in stock this week, now including a new size to fit newschool creek boats like the Zet Raptor and the new Jacksons.
Snap 'em up quick.

Also, check out the Cinch Deck and Surf Skirt,  non latex versions of the Absolute which are great for the less confident plastic paddler or for hardcore use on composite cockpit rims (sea kayaks, surf boats, slalom boats).

Explanation? Latex helps the deck stay bombproof on plastic cockpit rims. On composite ones it just makes the deck hard to get on and off without adding anything to performance.

However, some folks want a good quality deck for their plastic boat that is easy to get off, and they aren't going to be paddling big waterfalls. In this case the non-latex version would be a good choice.

You can find all the decks online at nookie.co.uk, just click "products"

15 & 20m Red Rockets

In all the enthusiasm about the Hornet line, let's not forget about the 15m and 20m hardcore versions.

It's not by chance that we are the first choice for rescues services, police, special forces and the like, and these new throwlines just raise the bar even further.

***NEW*** 10mm cored Polypropylene floating rope with excellent handling properties offers an incredible strength rating of approximately 13kN (1300N/2915lbs). The new bag has a funnel shaped opening with 'easy-pack' grab handles for a speedy re-fill. It has the classic Nookie features like the fail-safe dual release closure with anti-corrosion press stud backed up with Velcro, integral foam wall for  buoyancy and rigidity (the line won't fly or repack well unless the bag retains shape) and the hi-vis contrast panels with retro-reflective piping. Made in the UK from high grade 500D Cordura® and Enduro Mesh. They really are as tough as they come...

However, tech spec is one thing, functionality is another. You can check out these lines in store or at home - they really do fly, the balance is perfect to get a good throw when the pressure is on, and the repack is rapid and secure. The rope has a great handle at all temperatures, and you can quickly and easily untie it from the bag to use it in a mechanical rescue, for which, with it's mammoth strength and perfect balance of dynamic characteristics, it is equally suited.

Sox on the beach... or anywhere you want within reason

There's been a bit of online confusion lately about the best way to enjoy your sox, so we thought we'd try to clear things up. Pictured here are the Nookie Ti Sox. They are made from 2mm Titanium lined neoprene with flatlocked stitching, and are intended for wear inside shoes, dive or bodyboard fins, drysuit or drypant booties, or generally anywhere that you want super comfortable easy on-off socks that will insulate your tootsies. You can wear them on the beach as shown, or for strolling around on soft surfaces, but the Titanium in the name is for insulation and comfort purposes and does not make them bulletproof as implied by the David Guetta song of the same name. They are liner sox, to be worn inside something. At this they are very good, and very economically priced. Used as intended, they last an annoyingly long time when you'd kinda like to get the latest colour and graphics. Check out more tech spec at nookie.co.uk/tisox

Pictured below, are the Nookie Xtreme Sox. They are still sox, but they have a very different role, namely that of protecting your skin when you're paddling a boat that doesn't have enough footroom for rivershoes. Like a freestyle boat or a squirt boat, and many surf kayaks. The sox have Kevlar bits to protect the high wear areas against abrasion from the boat without the problems of sticky rubber, and a combination of denser neoprene where you need protection and superstretch neoprene to give a great fit. The sole has a mildly reinforcing and grippy print, so you don't fall down. You're not guaranteed not to fall down, btw. But we've done our best. They are glued and blindstitched construction. So basically they are awesome, as sox go. However, please note we recommend you take a pair of sandals or similar if you're going to walk around on rocks, tarmac etc. Cos they are tough, but they still sox, see? Not shoes.

Feels like Spring, n'est-ce pas?

Next off the line, this season's must have legwear. Or kayak bum wear, anyway.

OK, you don't "must have" them really. But we'd like you to have them, and we think you'll be glad you did!

2012 strides are made in premium quality four way stretch neoprene with a reinforcing dot matrix on the seat and knees. On the ones that have knees. Because they come in short, three-quarter (capri) and long styles.

Pictured are the three-quarter ones, obviously. At least, we would hope it's obvious. The short ones are shorter, well above the knee. The long ones come right down to the ankle.

Otherwise they have the same features.

This product and its previous incarnations has been super-popular with serious whitewater kayakers, but really for any kind of kayaking, canoeing, surfing or stand up paddling, if you want easy to use warmth and protection on your legs, these are the mustard.

Very much worth a look for fishing from a sit-on kayak, giving safety and protection for all eventualities.

Available in sizes S, M, L, XL, XXL and a genuine unisex fit. Check them out online at nookie.co.uk/strides

The new Hornet compact throwline

Everyone should have a personal throwline.

In addition to the new super hardcore 15 and 20m throwlines, we've made a compact version called the Hornet, using an 8mm version of the same hi-strength cored floating line.

This is a practical throwline for all whitewater folk, full-featured but easy to use.

It's 18m of useable length, a genuine 8mm rope thickness which is more than comfortable for person-to-person rescues, and its strength is a massive 9kN.

Good things come in small packages :)

Check it out online at nookie.co.uk/hornet

Team rider Rob Yates of Elements EU Ltd recently did some work with the Norwegian mountain rescue, and guess what?

They keep all their kit in Nookie dry packs!

They ones they use pre-date the current camo design, but then they probably aren't thinking low visual impact. They're probably more about not losing their kit in the snow.

For kayakers, however, the camo ones seem to work great :)

A whole range of sizes are available - you can check them out online at nookie.co.uk/drypack

All new throwlines ready to ship...

...We resisted updating our classic throwline design for a long time. After all, it had the best throw characteristics on the market. But we had to rethink it around a new rope which offers strength and performance characteristics we could only have dreamed about a few years back. So today all the little tweaks and features that we've been sitting on for ten years have suddenly been rolled out in an all new throwline range.

The new 10mm cored Polypropylene floating rope feels good and ties and unties well. And offers an incredible strength rating of 13kN (1300/2915lbs). It knocks the competition out. The new bag has a funnel shaped opening with 'easy-pack' grab handles for speedy re-pack. It keeps the classic Nookie features like the fail-safe dual release closure with anti-corrosion press stud backed up with Velcro, floating foam wall and the hi-vis panels with retro-reflective piping. Made in the UK from high grade 500D Cordura® and Enduro Mesh. This really is as tough as they come and offers pro rescue performance in an everyday, easy to handle package, at a mid range price! Available in 15m or 20m versions.

The Hornet version is a more compact line, using an 8mm version of the rope to pack 18m of throwable length into a mini sized bag. It's the ultimate personal throwline. Still has 9KN strength (917kg/2018lbs), far exceeding requirements for anything but a major mechanical rescue.

You can check these little babies out now at http://nookie.co.uk/throwline
